Sarra Elgan
Sarra Elgan is a Welsh sports presenter best known for presenting the rugby coverage on BT sport being both the pitch side reporter as well as the main presenter. Sarra is the Autumn Internationals rugby presenter for Amazon, she is also hosting the highlights programmes for S4C.
Sarra presents alongside Jonathan Davies and top referee Nigel Owens on Jonathan- this rugby show is one of Wales’ highest rating chat shows on S4C. Sarra also occasionally hosts the very successful weekly BBC Wales’ SCRUM V discussing the Welsh Autumn Internationals and Six Nations.
Although Sarra is obviously extremely passionate about sport, she shifts effortlessly between entertainment and sport presenting and so her recent credits include Red Bull Cliff Diving, 100% Rugby, 100% Fitness, Paparazzi, Ceri Greu on S4C as well as Bandit, a prime-time weekly youth music show.
Sarra was the presenter on location for The Lions Tour 2021 in South Africa for Sky, as well as pitch side reporting on each game and feeding back information to the UK via Sky Sports News.
Sarra has a wealth of experience having spent 4 years presenting on the Aviva Premiership at EPSN she also presented the LV Cup as well as The British and Irish Cup. She covered the Celtic League Rugby, S4C/BBC Wales for two years as well as the Rugby World Cup in 2007. She presented Speedway on Sky Sports, 2007-2009, was a CBBC reporter for the Euro Cup in Portugal, 2004 and also did some pitch-side reporting for Clwb Rygbi on S4C. She also hosted the popular magazine show Rugby Tonight for BT Sport.
This love of both sport and music has definitely influenced Sarra’s choices of work. This is evident as she has been the presenter for Wakestock (shown on both S4C and Channel 4), as well as the Cardiff Half Marathon/ Hanner Marathon Caerdydd.
Sarra’s long list of entertainment and music show credits include, Top Of The Pops Saturday, BBC1: 2003 – 2005, Pop Factory (ITV1 Wales: 2003 - 2004), Pop Factory Music Awards (2003 - 2004), The Saturday Show (BBC1: 2003 - 2005), The Saturday Show Extra (CBBC: 2001 - 2005), Xchange (CBBC: 2004 - 2006), Play the Game (CITV: 2005), Bump and Grind (Trouble: 2004 - 2005), Dial-a-Date (ITV: 2002 - 2003) and A Song for Wales (2004 – 2010).
Sarra is both beautiful and bright. She graduated with a first class honours degree in Theatre, Music and Media in 1999 and got her first break in TV later that year as a main character in the popular Welsh soap opera Pobol Y Cwm. Her popularity led to her being headhunted to present The Wrap for BBC Wales, Passion for Fashion for HTV, Planed Plant - a children’s programme for S4C - and Popty, a magazine music show where she interviewed bands and guests. Even when she was just starting off Sarra showed that she could handle a diverse range of presenting roles.
Sarra proved this even further when she turned her attention to radio. She hosted her own show for BBC Radio Wales and Red Dragon. She has also co-hosted the breakfast show on Radio Cymru (Radio Wales) in Cardiff.
Sarra is a hugely experienced live presenter as most of her work requires her to be. Sport and entertainment producers love working with her due to her professionalism, talent and natural initiative.
