Anthony Ogogo
Anthony Ogogo is an English proffesional Wrestler and former professional middleweight Boxer from Lowestoft, England. He was one of the most talented and talked about athletes in Britain and is a former junior Olympic Champion, Junior World Champion, 2010 Commonwealth Games silver medallist and 2012 Olympic bronze medallist. On his way to winning his bronze medal, Ogogo beat the unbeaten World Number 1 and World Amateur Champion Ievgen Khytrov in a thrilling victory, a win that has gone down in history as one of the best performances in British Boxing Olympic history.
Following the London 2012 Olympics, Ogogo turned professional with American powerhouse promoters Golden Boy Promotions, owned by one of the greatest fighters ever; Oscar De La Hoya. Ogogo then started off his professional career fantastically, winning 11 bouts in a row in impressive fashion. During his early professional career Anthony had been consistently unfortunate with injuries, with many of them career threatening. Despite continually showing the will, desire, ability and mental strength to bounce back, Anthony announced his retirement from the sport in 2019.
Fllowing his reitrement, it was announced that Anthony had signed with All Elite Wrestling (AEW) in 2019. Ogogo is s AEW’s first development wrestler, being trained by Dustin Rhodes and QT Marshall. Anthony made his debut on AEW in March 2021, fueding with Cody Rhodes in Double or Nothing 2021.
In Summer 2018, Anthony put survival skills to the test as he took part in The Celebrity Island with Bear Grylls which aired in Autumn 2018 on Channel 4.
Anthony is also a well-known and hugely popular figure outside of the boxing ring, having participated in a number of mainstream TV shows including BBC One’s Strictly Come Dancing, The Apprentice, Celebrity Mastermind, A Question of Sport and Sky One’s A League of their Own. Aside from TV and boxing, Anthony has secured commercial partnerships with the likes of Nike, Maximuscle, Subway and Coca-Cola.
