Anjula Mutanda is a highly respected psychologist, relationship and clinical therapist, mental health expert, presenter, author, social scientist, media consultant and newly appointed President for RELATE.
As a senior practitioner she holds the status of MBACP. She is registered with The British association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and the NCS where she is a Fellow. She is also qualified in treating post-traumatic stress, couples counselling, anger management, as well as cognitive behavioural coaching. Anjula has a background in work-place and organisational psychology, outplacement and stress management consultancy as well as previously being Director of Emotional Intelligence in the Workplace.
The past year has been a busy one, Anjula has become the regular psychologist for ITN’s Royal Family programmes for C5 discussing the psychology behind relationships of Royal Family members. She was the resident psychologist alongside Kym Marsh for the Crime & Investigation channel series, Murder at My Door, Killer in My Family and SKY’sParanormal Caught on Camera. Most recently she presented her 2nd series of the highly acclaimed radio show Bringing up Britain for BBC Radio 4, where she helped families make sense of big parenting questions.
In 2019 Anjula presented Channel 4’s Sextape, a major ground-breaking 4-part relationship series. The much talked about series garnered huge media interest, discussions on social media and provided many water cooler moments. That same year she was the behavioural expert on Make or Break for My5, filmed on a beautiful Caribbean Island, the 10-part series saw couples put through a wide range of relationships challenges.
Anjula continues to be the resident behavioural expert on the eye opening series Paramount’s Fight Camera Action that studies angry behaviour across the globe, she was also resident psychologist for Crime & Investigation channel’s 50 Ways to Kill your Lover, showing in the UK and USA, a series where she gave her forensic relationship analysis on complex cases and has contributed as expert psychologist on the C5 series, Autopsy – The Last Hours… She has also fronted a variety of cutting edge series such as, My Naked Secret, How to Have Sex After Marriage and BBC1’s primetime series Family Contract in which she helped families to reduce conflict within the family and live more harmoniously and was part of the expertise team alongside Davina McCall on W’s The Davina Hour exploring Friendship.
Regularly invited to contribute to a wide range of documentaries she has appeared on ITV1’s Tonight programme, working on a range of issues from: Dying to be Thin, which examined body image to Prince Harry - ahead of the Royal wedding. She has also contributed to other documentaries including, Celebrity Botched up Bodies, The Truth about Beauty and Celebrity Yo-Yo Dieters.
The list for her guest appearances is extensive, she can often be seen on shows such as GMB, Lorraine, BBC Breakfast, BBC1’s The One Show and Steph’s Packed Lunch. She was the resident psychologist on ITV`s This Morning for over five years, and continues to contribute to the show and guests on a variety of radio discussion shows, including Radio 4’s Woman’s Hour.
In print she has been the Agony Aunt for several publications, including Reveal, Grazia and Top Sante and is regularly asked to contribute to lifestyle magazines including: Psychologies, Woman, Take a Break, Cosmopolitan, Fabulous, Grazia and Glamour as well as most major newspapers.
Also a very successful Author, her first self-help book Celebrity Life Laundry was published in 2007 and her second self-help book How to do Relationships was published in 2013 which she wrote for RELATE.
Anjula is very proud of her role as President for RELATE, the number 1 relationships charity. She chairs meetings and presentations and is the face for their media coverage and helps launch new social media campaigns for them. She is also the Media & Culture Ambassador and Fellow for the National Counselling Society.
She regularly acts as spokesperson and consultant for PR companies when they require a specialist expert for their brand campaigns, participating in radio mornings, broadcast and print interviews, summarising survey findings and providing quotes for companies like LinkedIn, Arla, TK Maxx, Garnier, Sure, Sainsbury, Kleenex, Tango, Pass on Plastic, Speedo and Kendamil to name but a few.
