Maxwell's performance puts Blackpool through to the next round of the FA Cup!
On the 9th of January, Chris Maxwell made a triumphant return to the Blackpool squad after time out with COVID.
Facing West Brom in the third round of the FA Cup, the tense clash concluded with a penalty shootout, which saw Maxwell save three penalties to secure victory against the Premier League side.
Saving penalties from Kyle Edwards, Darnell Furnell and Matheus Pereira, the Blackpool Captain’s performance followed a two game absence over the festive period whilst he battled the virus.
Blackpool manager Neil Critchley praised Maxwell’s all round contribution, saying how the performance spoke volumes about his character and leadership, following the talented keepers quick return to form.
