Crown Football Round-Up (17/05/2019)

As the 2018/19 season comes to an end, here is the latest news from our footballers:

22-year-old Ryan Kent was voted as best young player across all Scottish leagues by his fellow professionals. Ryan moved to Ibrox in July on a season long loan from Liverpool and has set the Premiership alight with his impressive performances. Reflecting on his first season in Scotland Ryan said: “I feel like I have re-found my love for the game here. Under Steven Gerrard he gives me the utmost confidence to go and perform the way I want to perform. He gives me the belief in my own ability that I can go and achieve things out on the pitch and be fearless.”

Tyler Magloire led the Blackburn Rovers U23 team to a 2-0 victory of Burnley in the Lancashire Senior Cup Final. The squad also capped off an excellent campaign in the top tier of Premier League 2 with a fifth placed finish. And speaking after the game, Tyler, who made his first team debut earlier this season, was beaming with pride, admitting that he felt the team showed their "class" to earn a 2-0 win over The Clarets. “It is a great finish to what’s been a very good season for us. We started a little slow, but once we got into it we really showed our class. It’s a great way to round things off.”

Max Sheaf made his league debut in Hull City’s last match of the season. The 19-year-old midfielder was introduced into the action in place of Kamil Grosicki with 13 minutes remaining in the 1-1 draw with Bristol City. Speaking on making his debut Max said “Coming on to make my league debut was the icing on the cake of what has been a really positive season for me personally. The league debut is always the one that younger players target more than anything – it’s just massive. That was my long-term goal at the start of the campaign and to achieve it was a great feeling”. Congratulations Max!

Antony Evans returned to play for Everton in their Premier League Cup Final game against Newcastle, after his loan spell at Blackpool. Everton Under-23s captain Morgan Feeney scored the winner as the young Blues beat Newcastle United 1-0 at Goodison Park to win the Premier League Cup, after heading in Antony Evans’ pin point free kick. Everton became the first team to complete a league and cup double in the current format of development football.

Taylor Harwood-Bellis captained England U17 in their recent U17 European Championship competition. Although the Young Lions didn't progress to the finals, Tyler scored in England's game against the Netherlands.
