Crown Football Round-Up (23/11/2018)

Byron Moore and Bury kick started their 2018/19 FA Cup campaign with a 5-0 win over Dover. Byron featured in the starting 11. Byron’s first goal came after Chris Stokes played the ball into the middle, where Byron turned and fired wide from 12-yards. And it wasn’t long before the Shakers scored another, when Byron doubled his tally for the afternoon, as he tapped the ball into an empty net from close range.


Bury will face Luton Town in the next round of the FA Cup, on Sunday 2nd December.


Jack Bainbridge made his full debut for the Sunderland first team last week, in their Checkatrade Trophy clash against Morecambe. Jack was 1 of 5 academy players to make their debut. The team secured a 1-0 win to book their place in the last 32 the Checkatrade Trophy as group A winners.

Matt Jay was also in action in the Checkatrade Trophy last week with Exeter City. The midfielder wore the captain’s armband for the clash against Bristol Rovers. The Grecians beat Rovers 2-0 in what was their final group game of the competition. City started to dominate possession in the second half when Jonathan Forte flicked a shot past Smith and into the far corner. Tristan Abrahams then fired a shot into the side netting following a good pass from Matt. Matt was instrumental in a lot of City's good work and set up one of the current youngsters for the goal that finally settled the tie.

Adam Lewis was called up to the England U20 squad during the recent international break. The team faced Germany U20’s in front of a sell-out crowd in Colchester. The Young Lions made a winning end to 2018 with a 2-0 victory over Germany, with two second-half goals in the space of three minutes.


Taylor Harwood-Bellis captained the England U17 side last week in their friendly against Germany. The game ended in a 2-2 draw.



Liverpool U23's defender Tom Clayton also had an international call up during the break. He featured for Scotland U19's in their UEFA Under-19 Championship Qualifier matches against Wales, San Marino and Sweden.


Luca Navarro is one of the leading goalscorers in the Professional Development League 2. Luca has scored 8 goals so far this season.
