Crown Football Round-Up (24/08/2018)

Congratulations to Stephy Mavididi, who has signed with Juventus from Arsenal on a permanent transfer. The 20-year-old forward will initially join the Italian side's 'B' team. Stephy has previously spent time on loan at Preston North End, and also had two spells at Charlton Athletic, where he spent the second half of last season. He is an England youth international having played up to under-20 level.

Stephy made his debut for Juventus U23’s on Tuesday in the Coppa Italia Serie C against Cuneo, where they sealed a 1-0 win.

Sam Gallagher has been playing in the Premier League International Cup for Southampton U23’s. Last week they faced Dinamo Zagreb in their opening group game of the competition.

Sam's first half header earned Southampton a 1-0 victory, as Tom O'Connor whipped a free-kick towards the six yard line, where Sam had made a clever run and sent the ball beyond Zagreb’s keeper.

Christian Walton and Wigan Athletic faced Nottingham Forest in the Championship on Saturday. Latics drew 2-2 with Forest, despite leading for the majority of the game at the DW Stadium. Nick Powell and Will Grigg both scored goals for Latics, before a late penalty was awarded to Forest. Lewis Grabban’s spot-kick was saved by goal keeper Christian, only for the rebound to be fired home by Soudani, drawing them level.

Ryan Kent has featured in a number of Europa League and Scottish Premiership games for Rangers. Last night they faced Ufa in the first leg of their final play-off game. Rangers sealed a goal just before half time when Ryan’s superb corner was won in the six-yard box by Morelos, and while his effort was saved by Belenov, he couldn’t hold the ball and it fell for Connor Goldson who scored.

Connor Kirby made his second appearance for Sheffield Wednesday first team in their Carabao Cup clash against Sunderland last week.

20-year old Connor came on at half time and was one of a number of highly-rated youngsters involved in the 2-0 win on the night.
