Crown Football Round-Up (13/07/2018)

Amongst all of the madness of the World Cup, football pre-season is in full swing.

Ryan Kent returned to the Liverpool side after his short loan spell at Bristol City last season.

Ryan was one of Jürgen Klopp's second-half team at the Swansway Chester Stadium on Saturday and scored with an arrowing right-footed effort. Watch the fantastic goal below:

The Reds got their pre-season preparations off to a great start, securing 7 goals in their first friendly of the season. Ryan also featured in The Reds starting 11 for their friendly against Tranmere on Tuesday, claiming their second win of pre-season.

Ryan Edwards is back training with Plymouth Argyle and played in their first pre-season friendly against Plymouth Parkway. Argyle’s opening 11 comprised a fairly even split of new Pilgrims and last season’s Greens.

Argyle swapped their entire line-up and started the second half with 11 changes including the captain’s armband being passed on to Ryan Edwards. A goal from Ryan contributed the their 4-2 win over Plymouth Parkway, as well as newly signed Calum Dyson making an appearance in the second 45 minutes.

Sam Gallagher has been out in China with the Southampton team for their two-week pre-season training camp.

On Wednesday the team faced Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning, a 3-2 victory.

Sam also got his campaign up and running with the game's winner late in the second half. The 22-year-old played a one-two with Steven Davis, then side-footed into the far corner of the net from a tight angle. It was Gallagher's first Saints strike since returning from a successful loan spell at Championship side Birmingham City last season.

Watch Sam’s clinical goal below:

20 year old defender Jack Bainbridge signed to Sunderland AFC on a free transfer this week, where he will join Elliott Dickman’s under-23 squad.

Jack started his career with Everton at the age of 14 before progressing through the ranks and featuring for the under-18s and under-23s. In August 2017, he signed a one-year deal with Swansea, featuring in Premier League 2.
