Tom Chilton wins at WTCC Monza, Italy

Tom clinched a win in a thrilling opening race in the FIA World Touring Car Championship at Monza, Italy.

Competing for Sébastien Loeb Racing in the Citroën C-Elysée Tom started from the second row, but moved to the front of the pack when Mehdi Bennani and Norbert Michelisz collided ahead of him on the third lap.

He faced strong competition from fellow British driver Rob Huff, who made Chilton use all his skill to to retain the lead.

“It was a serious battle,” said a delighted Chilton. “It always seems to be Rob behind me when I’m going for a win and it was not easy. He gave me a love tap! But we made it and I’m over the moon.”

The win gives Chilton a strong position this early on placing him in the top five drivers in the championship and second in the WTCC Trophy.
