Oldham-born Ryan joined Liverpool at the age of seven. A dynamic winger who can play on the left or right side, Kent loves to take on defenders and cause endless problems for the opposition. After an impressive 2014-15 campaign his performances were rewarded with a call-up to the first-team squad for their 2015 pre-season tour of Bangkok, Brisbane, Adelaide and Malaysia. He was handed a chance to impress, too, when he made an appearance off the bench during the match with Brisbane Roar.
To further build up senior experience, Kent then joined Coventry City in September 2015 on a youth loan deal before returning in January 2016. He made 17 appearances for Tony Mowbray's side and proved to be a real favourite amongst the Coventry supporters.
A senior debut for Liverpool arrived in an FA Cup clash at Exeter City, and Ryan went out on a season-long loan deal in 2016-17 - joining Championship side Barnsley, where he was crowned the 'Young Player of the Year Award' at the end of the season. He returned to Melwood in the summer of 2017 and quickly set about catching the eye with a series of impressive performances as he figured in seven of the Reds' eight summer friendlies, including clashes with the likes of Bayern Munich and Atletico Madrid. On August 10, Kent signed a new long-term deal with the club, before joining SC Freiburg on a 6-month loan in the Bundesliga and then joining Bristol City in January 2018 on loan until the end of the season making 17 appearances in total.
In July 2018 Ryan agreed a season long loan switch to Rangers, where he continued his development in the Scottish Premiership. Ryan scored 6 goals and provided 9 assists in his 2018/19 campaign. After an impressive season winning the Scottish Young Player of the Year, Ryan signed a permanent four-year deal with Rangers.
