ON LOAN FROM BRIGHTON & HOVE ALBION
The highly rated England Under-21 goalkeeper is out on loan from Brighton & Hove Albion for the 2017-18 season at Wigan Athletic. Walton made his Football League debut against Wigan in a 1-0 victory for The Seagulls at the Amex Stadium in November 2014, where he was voted man of the match. He had short spells on loan at Bury and Plymouth Argyle in 2015-16, in fact playing for the Shakers in their League Cup victory at the DW Stadium in September 2015. He then played 27 times for Luton Town on loan in 2016-17 before finishing off the season at Southend United.
During his loan season with Wigan Athletic secured the Sky Bet League One Golden Glove, after keeping 19 clean sheets in 31 Sky Bet League One appearances and helping the club on their promotion up to the Championship. Christian joined Wigan on loan for a second season after gaining promotion to the Championship and increasing his total clean sheets to 29 in just 68 appearances.
